How are you doing in lockdown Matt?
Matt: I’m okay, here. I'm climbing the walls but I'm worried about the Covid, I think I'm going to test negative when we get to Benidorm.
Where does the name Unique come from?
Matt: The name comes after a lot of thought and coming together and discovering that each of us is from a different place, that each of us has a different personality. In the end it's like we're all unique and we also wanted to connect with the fact that each person is unique in the world and that's not why we're better or worse, but we are unique. Somehow we decided that that was the name and we decided to do it in English so that it would be more “international”. We are going to make it Unique, and that's how it was.
There are 14 songs this year at Benidorm Fest, do you have any other favorite songs apart from yours?
Matt: I personally really like Raffaella from Varry Brava. It reminds me a lot of la Casa Azul and I wear it a lot inside that I wear all the songs.
Valen: Apart from what Matt said, I also really like Make you say by Sara Deop.
And is there one that you listen to less?
Matt: Since I'm home in lockdown right now, I need energy and dance, so the one I listen to the least is Secreto de Agua by Blanca Paloma because it doesn't go with my mood right now.
Have you already seen images of the stage that have been filtered by Twitter? Or have you preferred not to see it, and find if it is surprising there?
Valen: This morning the first thing I did when I opened my eyes was to see the images of the stage and… WOW. It looks to be very big.
Matt: It is true that we had seen the stage plan before, but seeing the real image is not the same as seeing it from an image on a plan. And the truth is that it is quite impressive, but we are ready for the Benidorm Fest stage and for 3 more like it.
But you have already performed at the Coca Cola Music Experience, and that stage was much bigger than the one in Benidorm, right?
Valen: It was a monster. But the truth is that it was a super good experience.
Matt: The experience of singing at Coca Cola was super fun and in the end, no matter how big that Coca Cola stage is, the Benidorm Fest creates much more respect and nerves for me. I think the reason for this is because we're going to Benidorm with a better bet since Mejores is a song created just for this and it entails a lot of responsibility for me

You act in the first semifinal in 5 position behind Blanca Paloma and before Tanxugueiras, two of the great favorites of this year's festival. Does that create pressure for you when you have to go out and act?
Valen: I don't think so, I think that being there in the middle of the two makes Unique part of the favorite pack and they are going to give us a good vibe and in reality the 14 are very good regardless of the order. We are going to try to catch the good vibes of the songs we have and go out on stage with that energy.
What can you anticipate about your staging of the Benidorm Fest?
Matt: Unique is always accompanied by dancing, so we are going to dance a lot, we are going to transmit good energy, the costumes are quite cool and then there are 3 shocking surprises during the performance that people will like a lot.
And you Matt, are you rehearsing from home because being in lockdown, how are you doing?
Matt: I rehearse in my living room and we do it by video call, but since the quality of my colleagues' mobiles is very bad, I see them in case they make any changes and then I rehearse on my own at home.
If you are not chosen, what are your plans for the future?
Matt: When the team tells us about future plans, and for my future it is February, I don't want to listen. We have closed things, such as dates and others, but we have all our energies into the Benidorm Fest. Right now, we cannot allow our minds to go distorted towards anything else, that is, we have not thought about what to do after the Benidorm Fest.
